38% The Boy and the Heron (2023) - Rated 29 Dec 2023
"I really wanted to like it, and it definitely merits a rewatch, but upon first viewing it left me disappointed. Wants to do so much and in the end I never felt confident that I knew what was important. Beautiful, and the animated fire was transfixing, but I was more invested in Kiki’s cat than any of the characters here."

26% Asteroid City (2023) - Rated 01 Jul 2023
15% What Is a Woman? (2022) - Rated 06 Jun 2023
"More interested in playing the hits for the LibsOfTikTok crowd than in tackling any one issue thoroughly and meticulously. Matt Walsh is to the culture war issues of his day what Michael Moore or Bill Maher were to the Bush-era lightning rods of cultural division: he may be more right than wrong, but even his most incisive arguments get washed away by his insufferable shtick of feigned curiosity, which is every bit as off-putting as the feigned ignorance on the part of his interview subjects."
38% Enter the Dragon (1973) - Rated 06 Jun 2023
89% Goodfellas (1990) - Rated 31 Dec 2022
55% Gaslight (1944) - Rated 27 Nov 2022
"Great interplay between the two leads. Weaves together some pretty sharp insights regarding power dynamics in romantic relationships. Am I the only one who can't get over the fact that the term "gaslight" derives from the single aspect of Gregory's manipulation that is in fact incidental and completely unintentional?"
38% The Stranger (1946) - Rated 27 Nov 2022
"Doesn't do anything that other films haven't done better, but it's still fun and competently produced."
26% Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) - Rated 27 Nov 2022
"It's cute and it has massive nostalgia value for me, but it certainly hasn't aged well. Every set piece overstays its welcome and the animation is flat and dull, even by the standards of the day."
