Touching and heartrending tale of love and friendship paints its setup in broad, superficial terms (for the first act, it is unclear where the story is headed, or indeed how it is going to sustain itself), before it becomes a far deeper study of the fragility of even apparently strong emotional bonds. Communicated in dialogue-free visual language, and embracing the eccentric and quirky spirit of the Wallace & Gromit adventures. Not sure what the recurring WTC imagery is supposed to represent!

Sympathetic to the max with good looking animation and just the right use of the gimmick.

I don't know why Dog doesn't just get someone to help Robot, but even still, wonderful film. Great animation. Tells its story with no dialogue and doesn't feel like a gimmick. Explores loneliness effectively. Uses "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire really well, I will now associate that song with this movie. Funny at times. Robot is a compelling character who smiles constantly, embracing connection through watching/experiencing others. Honest, sad and uplifting all at the same time.

Kid's film - enjoyable, with a strong message delivered through slightly strange scenario. Includes quite prominent images of the World Trade Center for no reason whatsoever.

Really sweet, yet touching story of a dog and his robot friend starting off as best buddies then certain circumstances makes them take their own journeys and lessons. Intentionally mundane and meandering in many places just like life itself. Sometimes the outcome you want doesn’t play out and like reality you accept the path you’re now on. There is no dialogue at all. The movie does an excellent job at showing exactly what is going on and how the characters are feeling. Nice art style too.

Wholesome and cute and tucks on the heartstrings a lot, if perhaps a little too hard. I do recommend for children and family watching. It's interesting that the 1980s were chosen as the backdrop since only a fraction of this movie's audience was there to experience them, but I suppose it's what justifies the now-mandatory retro-aesthetic of the robot.

Such a sweet story of companionship and 'what could have been', as unforeseen things happen in their life to prevent them from seeing each other. So gentle and wholesome. The hugs got me the most.

The consistent tugs at the heartstrings are almost too much to bear. Still a great story about loneliness and love.
