"I can see the flashes of better things to come from Mann, but it reaches nowhere near the heights of Heat. There is some questionable acting here and there and the deliberately slow pace hurts it a little. I did enjoy it, but I felt there was a lot of missed potential."

I don't know a lot about the character of Philip Marlowe in other adaptations, but Neeson just isn't convincing in the action scenes. It really pulled me out of it when he easily overpowered people 40 years younger than him."

"It has some great cinematography and a huge number fun cameos. The satire is fantastic and applies even more today than it did 30 years ago. One of my favorite bits was when the auteur writer, despite being adamant for no happy ending and no famous actors, sells out anyway."
