Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023) - Rated 08 Jan 2026
A "more" accurate adaptation of the books that still struggles from pacing issues and unnecessary changes to the plot that either convolutes or worsens it, around 90% of the time. The cast is more age accurate than the movies, even though season 2 throws a wrench into the whole plus point as Walker Scobell looks much older than the 13 he's supposed to be, which wouldn't be a problem normally but when the plot relies on him turning 16, it's pretty important. Season 2 is definitely a big step up.

It: Welcome to Derry (2025) - Rated 15 Dec 2025
Welcome to Derry is NOT bad, but it isn't great either, It qualifies as good thanks to the last 4 episodes. As much as I enjoyed the gross deaths, goofy jumpscares and a somewhat boring military side-plot (most of the time Halloran isn't on the screen that is), there are problems as well. The child actors do an okay job, but every now and then the reactions feel phony and overdone. We get more to the story of the actual Pennywise aka Bob and that was a good touch. It drags on a bit sometimes.

The Conjuring (2013) - Rated 12 Dec 2025
Pushing aside the controversial lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren irl, this is a fantastic horror experience. Vera and Patrick capture a refined, polished and morally righteous versions of the demonologists and they are likeable characters throughout the movie. This particular case of the Warrens is also pretty spooky irl. The scares are pretty great as well, they REALLY take their time before giving you Bathsheba for the first time and it's rewarding, and that exorcism scene was also well done.

Hell of a Summer (2025) - Rated 28 Nov 2025
Fun to watch. It's more of a parody of teen slashers to me, stereotypical and hollow characters, cringe jokes, modern language and slang really put it together. It's not a good movie, but it's FUN to watch and RE-watch.

Annabelle (2014) - Rated 28 Nov 2025
The ONLY scene that's worthy of watching is the elevator scene with Malthus and maybe the car/church scene. It's got some decent scares/jumps but nothing noteworthy. The doll itself does pm nothing, yet it's plopped in every other scene to add shock value/intrigue but fails at it because Annabelle does NOTHING. The final scene/ending isn't particularly interesting either. It's just below par CONSTANTLY except for like 4 scenes.

Spider-Man 2 (2004) - Rated 25 Nov 2025
It's an improvement from the first movie but still falls way too flat with a weak plot-line, weak chemistry between Tobey and frankly, everyone, saved by the improved acting prowess of all the cast and Doc Ock. Just like the first movie, it's carried by the villain. There are some good scenes, between Peter and Aunt May and the scene where Peter learns his true responsibility and the talk with MJ afterwards, but that's it.

Spree (2020) - Rated 24 Nov 2025
Found-footage film of a wannabe influencer who does rideshare goes apeshit crazy to get the following he desires. Honestly, it's a lot of fun. His method is actually clever and the soundtrack was really unique with all the bad EDM music that Kurt himself makes adding a nice element to the picture. You can see when and where his mind takes the leftest turn it'd get you to the edge of your seat wondering what's gonna happen until something does happen that usually falls flat, but again and again.

Dexter: Resurrection (2025) - Rated 24 Nov 2025
Resurrection is PEAK Dexter and no one can change my mind. You get higher stakes than season 4 somehow, the humor of OG series and the chemistry between Dexter and everybody is so picture perfect it's insane. The next 2 seasons have a LOT to do to overcome the sensational masterpiece this was and I'll be surprised if it isn't at least Emmy-nominated. MCH, Dinklage, Stonestreet, NPH, Ritter, Dastmalchian, star-studded cast AND we get beloved characters back either a LOT of them or just cameos.

Dexter: Original Sin (2024) - Rated 24 Nov 2025
After retconning Dexter's death and setting up arguably one of the best seasons of Dexter (imo, better than S4), Original Sin left me with more wanted than got. The pacing needed work and so did utilizing characters that were so prominent on promotional tours but played minimal to no role in the show (cough cough, Sarah Michelle Gellar). It's still very fun, captures the vibe of OG Dexter and Miami very well and leaves you wanting more (like Doakes and more Brian). Sad that they cancelled it.

Dexter: New Blood (2021) - Rated 24 Nov 2025
New Blood is a great sequel, up until the ending. In regular Dexter fashion, the ending is sub-par. It isn't horrible, neither was the concept for the original ending, but like the og ending, it feels rushed. The change of climate, setting, humor and structure really benefited the show, because it felt more unique and fresh. The relationship between Dexter and Harrison remains exceptional. If they just padded out the season to the classic 12 episodes and gave us time, the ending would've rocked.
