The cast is more age accurate than the movies, even though season 2 throws a wrench into the whole plus point as Walker Scobell looks much older than the 13 he's supposed to be, which wouldn't be a problem normally but when the plot relies on him turning 16, it's pretty important. Season 2 is definitely a big step up.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

As much as I enjoyed the gross deaths, goofy jumpscares and a somewhat boring military side-plot (most of the time Halloran isn't on the screen that is), there are problems as well. The child actors do an okay job, but every now and then the reactions feel phony and overdone. We get more to the story of the actual Pennywise aka Bob and that was a good touch. It drags on a bit sometimes.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Vera and Patrick capture a refined, polished and morally righteous versions of the demonologists and they are likeable characters throughout the movie. This particular case of the Warrens is also pretty spooky irl. The scares are pretty great as well, they REALLY take their time before giving you Bathsheba for the first time and it's rewarding, and that exorcism scene was also well done.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

It's got some decent scares/jumps but nothing noteworthy. The doll itself does pm nothing, yet it's plopped in every other scene to add shock value/intrigue but fails at it because Annabelle does NOTHING. Just like the first movie, it's carried by the villain. There are some good scenes, between Peter and Aunt May and the scene where Peter learns his true responsibility and the talk with MJ afterwards, but that's it.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

You get higher stakes than season 4 somehow, the humor of OG series and the chemistry between Dexter and everybody is so picture perfect it's insane. The next 2 seasons have a LOT to do to overcome the sensational masterpiece this was and I'll be surprised if it isn't at least Emmy-nominated. MCH, Dinklage, Stonestreet, NPH, Ritter, Dastmalchian, star-studded cast AND we get beloved characters back either a LOT of them or just cameos.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

The pacing needed work and so did utilizing characters that were so prominent on promotional tours but played minimal to no role in the show (cough cough, Sarah Michelle Gellar). It's still very fun, captures the vibe of OG Dexter and Miami very well and leaves you wanting more (like Doakes and more Brian). In regular Dexter fashion, the ending is sub-par. It isn't horrible, neither was the concept for the original ending, but like the og ending, it feels rushed. The change of climate, setting, humor and structure really benefited the show, because it felt more unique and fresh. The relationship between Dexter and Harrison remains exceptional. If they just padded out the season to the classic 12 episodes and gave us time, the ending would've rocked.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

The focus is more put on the characters than the policing but there still ends up being a shootout every episode. Don't go in it for a realistic police show, as much as they may nail it on some areas, it's supposed to be an entertaining cop drama. Nathan Fillion is amazing and so is the supporting cast. Characters come and go and are actually not copy-paste one after the other. The quantum realm looks pretty vivid and interesting but the creatures aren't, they're bland & throwaways. Fun concept just went to shit. The adults are EXACTLY as you'd imagine the kids as adults and they nail the chemistry to a degree where it doesn't take anything away from the acting. The frequent inserts of the kids also adds a fun element. Pennywise is ready to feed again and he does in the intro sequence itself. The fears of the Loser's Club are exploited in a different yet magnetic way that feels fresh yet similar.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Compared to the predecessors (which were just funny when it should've been scary), IT (2017) actually manages to employ Pennywise in a way where his mannerisms alone creep you out. The drool, the eccentricity when he says "the dancing clown", chef's kiss. The Loser's Club is also significantly better, with Finn Wolfhard's Ritchie being actually funny, CONSISTENTLY. There are obvious horror movie stuff that might have you roll your eyes but it's got clowns and it's fun.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

It's not a whodunnit, because it doesn't give you any ingredients to mix and match to craft the perfect suspect, but if you can sit through the mildly to sometimes irritating amount of boring filler that pretends to be investigative mumbo jumbo, you can have a fun time. The jumpscares and kills are pretty cool/interesting even without the massive amounts of gore. It did have me attentive around 80% of the time and I wasn't bored enough to 2nd screen.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

When you dig deep into it, holes appear pretty frequently but that isn't the message being delivered. "Get Out" features the tension between interracial dating and parental acceptance surrounding the matter. Although the family of the caucasian girl seems accepting at first, the increasing number of African-American workers around their estate gets worrysome. Hypnotism and questionable practices surrounding human bodies is a double-down.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Tobey Maguire is a great actor, no doubt, but this was pure disaster. He fails to capture pretty much any of the qualities that makes Spiderman great. He looks significantly older than how old Peter is in the movie, his mouth hangs around open probably a quarter of the time, the intial bus chase scene made me want to die of cringe. I enjoyed it as a kid, but putting nostalgia aside, it's pretty awful. Willem Dafoe carries.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Six Feet Under is life-changing. The show revolves around a funeral home and funeral directions. It's the type of show that makes you hate 90% of the characters on a personal basis but you HAVE to sit in awe of just how real they are as characters. A Soap Opera structure that's actually fun to watch and rewatch. It gives you perspective on life, death and everything in between the two. Hands down the best ending to any TV show/movie ever as well.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

That's the essence of Dexter. A Forensic Blood Spatter Analyst who lives a double life as a serial killer due to his violent urges, BUT he only kills other serial killers who evade justice. When he was barely a toddler, he was hit with great tragedy, and Dexter was born in blood. Suffice to say the quality varies season to season, but the later seasons aren't as bad as people say they are.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Even as a late 2000s Gen Z, Stranger Things is uniquely intriguing. Alternate dimensions, strange creatures, psionic powers, the works. The characters are fleshed out and not just one and done, they actually evolve, change and grow as people. There are definitely seasons that are better than others but there is a consistent baseline that gives the comfort, intrigue and excitement for whatever the plot is that season.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!
