Diaz is a welcome return, looking great and sharing solid chemistry with Foxx. The fight scenes are fun, but that's about it. The film aims for action-comedy but misses the mark on both counts. The humor is lacking and Demetriou's character is odd. The plot is virtually nonexistent, making it a weak action film.

Chronologically, this is easily the best Predator film since the original. Not exactly a high bar, considering how awful the others were, but still. I liked the completely different time period and the fact that the franchise finally tried something new. On the other hand, some characters were incredibly annoying, and I still can't get over the Predator who previously wiped out elite teams, half of L.A. and a bunch of Aliens being taken down by a girl with a stick.

Die Hard
Die Hard (1988) - Rated 24 Feb 2008
I love this film, I really do. Forget the blabla, we want action. Film came out in 1988 and is still one of the best action films imo. Great performances and Bruce Willis started a great die hard series here!

The Whisper Man
The Whisper Man (2026) - Rated 07 Oct 2026
At first glance, this seems like a solid crime thriller with some great performances, but it soon felt like a collage of other, better films in the genre. It relies heavily on clichés: the troubled father-son relationship, the death of a family member as trauma, and so on. Many elements are poorly developed, especially the imaginary girlfriend. Even the ending is painfully predictable. Worth watching? Yes. Forgettable? Absolutely.

Cloud Atlas (2012) - Rated 20 Oct 2014
A kaleidoscopic story which you have to watch more than once to fully understand and appreciate it. This story is so complex due to all the little details, all the little events that influence on another that a second watch won't do any harm, but however this entanglement is so extreme and fast, the story is comprehensible and beautiful. A must see.

Great and exciting. Danny Boyle did something wonderful here. A great combination of camerawork, music and a terrific story. The acting was very good and he was really able to create a good mixture. Really loved the scenes in the beginning showing the desolate London. Also loved the psychological part of this film, which makes it much more than the usual second-class horror movie.

Predator: Badlands
Predator: Badlands (2025) - Rated 20 Sep 2026
I love what they did with this one. For the first time, the franchise breaks away from the repetitive formula of Predator arriving on Earth and hunting humans. It’s a completely different approach, and exactly what the franchise needed. We get an almost humanized hunter in a film that’s tense, entertaining and sometimes genuinely funny. It feels like a franchise stuck in the ’90s has suddenly been catapulted into this decade. Great fun!

Havoc
Havoc (2025) - Rated 20 Sep 2026
I genuinely liked the beginning. A crime thriller with a troubled protagonist and a backstory slowly revealed can be great when done well. Unfortunately, the film suddenly turns into a mindless shooter, with thousands of bullets flying everywhere and everyone getting riddled with at least seven shots to the chest, followed by the obligatory fountains of blood. The clichés pile up too, completely overshadowing what was a promising start.

Joker
Joker (2019) - Rated 27 Jan 2020
I loved this film. In a very psychological way we get to see the person behind the Joker and how he becomes the most interesting villain in movie history. This origin story fits in the series and stays believable. Joaquin Phoenix is marvelous and definitely Oscar worthy.

Gladiator 2
Gladiator 2 (2024) - Rated 11 Aug 2026
A fun sequel, and while the film gets off to a strong start and delivers some entertaining action scenes, it never comes close to the original. Too often, it feels like a sentimental trip down memory lane or a Hollywood attempt to please audiences with over-the-top scenes, such as the shark-filled arena. I did, however, think Denzel Washington was fantastic.
