after the continuous action we've seen on halloween'18 and kills, I can definitely say that ends was a slap to my face and a disappointment. the first and most important mistake with ends was to set the movie in 4 years after halloween'18. they might've just set it a week (or a month) after oct. 31 2018. IMO, ends is a movie that was supposed to be a stand-alone spin-off (like Jigsaw or Spiral). because what I expected was an intense cat-and-mouse game between laurie and myers, and that was what this movie was supposed to deliver. even though the actor who portrayed Corey did an amazing job and Corey himself is one of the rare villains that I rooted for, I don't think the 'corey plot' had its place in this movie. hell, they didn't even bother showing a flashback of the immediate aftermath of Kills (laurie's arrival to myers' house and disappearance of myers). and within the reboot trilogy; the movie really stands out for itself in a negative way, feels odd compared to the previous two movies. maybe if the last 20-30 minutes of the movie was much more intense, it could've saved the movie (like Get Out's climax, which turned an initially boring movie to a masterpiece). but for what we have, the movie failed to deliver what it has promised (except the fact that myers is finally dead for good) and left me disappointed. also, allyson as a character had SO MUCH potential (she literally stabbed myers in his torso multiple times like a robot during her encounter with him in myers' house). and that potential being wasted is a felony. to summarize; even though that I think this trilogy could've ended much better, Halloween Ends is definitely not that bad at all (when you think there's final movies like Saw 3D and Spider-Man: No Way Home). but the concept of the movie was outright unsuitable for a final movie for a trilogy. basically the whole movie felt like a spin-off which the only connection with previous two movies are certain characters and references. and I'm sure the entire crew could've done better work than this. the screenplay (not the 'concept'), acting (especially actor of Corey, dude's talented for real) and the soundtracks (especially Corey's theme) prevent the movie from being a disaster and compensate for the wrong concept choice for as far as they can, but fail to bring a decent climax for the reboot trilogy. therefore; I rate it 3 stars.
