A Big Bold Beautiful Journey

Starts out charmingly cheesy and gladly mostly stays that way, though often delves into cheap/lazy territory. Where it seems performative instead of genuine.
It's also often more than just cheesy.

The acting is beyond great...well not necessarily, but definitely great. As is the casting.

It's like a mix of Hayao Miyazaki, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Charlie Kaufman. Which, I guess, isn't that surprising for something written by a comedy writer... :D

It's kind of a shame things like these don't seem to matter that much to modern audiences anymore.
It's not special and it's not that subtle, but it's fun and bold in its aesthetics and the way in which it presents its themes.

I mean, I just assume it didn't land that well. I haven't really heard anything about this, in spite of it starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. I sort of stumbled upon it.
