The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

It was the best of the trilogy. It's been a full 21 years, and I still remember the days when we eagerly waited for it to come out so we could go see it. From the buildup scenes before the Helm's Deep battle to the battle itself, the memorable tirades spoken by many characters (like what Sam said at the end), what happened at the dawn of the fifth day, and even the opening scene with Gandalf vs. the Balrog, it was truly a success and overshadowed the third film. However, for some reason, the praise often goes to the third film (which is also good, but not as much). This and the other films, even the excellent remake of King Kong, were directed by the same man. It's mind-boggling how he went on to make "The Hobbit" trilogy, which was a disaster.
