Avatar: Fire and Ash
Doesn’t reach the heights of Way of Water and it’s beautiful Malick esque purity where Cameron had finally become one with technology to create a new way of looking at cinema. But it’s still interesting in parts. It does fully exist past computer image or “looking like a video game” where there’s a constant battle between pop spectacle of the extreme form and a long history of the cinematic form. T2 moving in tandem with Lean and DeMille I just wish I could feel any sense of humanity here. There’s a human sense of morality and pain but nothing about the movie feels human is that something I’ll be constantly thinking about as we enter a new age of cinema? Probably but I’m also not one that’s wowed that much with a sort of saccharine spectacle found here. Love that Cameron followed in the footsteps of every old director and his horny peers (Spielberg/Eastwood etc) and made this thing oddly perverted. Like all Avatar movies it’s not not racist but you’re called a scold these days if you say that about Big Jim

Finally big Jim got to make his oddly perverted movie like all old folk directors. Not to be a scold but not not racist lol

The thing is, The Way of Water has so many plot threads and arcs already, but it made sense to me that you kind of had to put what sorta feels like two movies into one. Fully ex...
