Stranger Things - Season 5
I liked it a lot, just like the whole series. I don’t think this final season is perfect, but I do think it’s a very powerful and emotional farewell for characters we’ve been watching grow up for almost a decade. It has that sense of a major ending from the very beginning and, even if it sometimes becomes too big, it still works.
What still works best is the group. Beyond monsters, portals, and explosions, what truly holds the series together is the characters and their relationships. That becomes clear again here. The moments that hit me hardest were not necessarily the biggest ones, but the smaller interactions that remind you why Stranger Things connected with so many people in the first place.
It is true that the season can feel overloaded at times. There are too many fronts open, too many characters, too much countdown energy, and a constant event-like tone that can become a bit exhausting. In some stretches it feels as if the Duffers want to put everything in at once, and that means not everything carries the same weight or depth.
Even so, the show still handles entertainment very well. It has tension, action, creatures, emotion, and that 1980s atmosphere that remains one of its greatest strengths. It may no longer surprise in the same way it did at the beginning, but it still knows how to make you want to watch one more episode, and then another, and another.
I also like that, despite how huge everything becomes, it never completely loses its heart. The show has always worked best when it mixes adventure, horror, and friendship, and there is still plenty of that here. Some decisions may be debatable and not everything is closed equally well, but emotionally it does leave an impact.
Overall, I think it is a very good ending for a series that has been hugely important for Netflix and for a lot of people. It may not be the best season of them all, but it is still a very worthy, very enjoyable farewell with enough emotional strength to leave a lasting good impression.
