The Marvels
The Marvels is one of those movies that works best if you're already invested in the MCU and keeping up with every piece of the puzzle. It doesn't break new ground, but it does exactly what it sets out to do: entertain for a couple of hours with action, humor, and a trio of charismatic leads who carry the film with ease.
The best part of the movie is how well its three protagonists work together. Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani have great chemistry and make their characters click effortlessly. But it's Vellani who truly steals the show-her energy and enthusiasm shine in every scene, giving the film a much-needed breath of fresh air.
Visually, The Marvels sticks to the familiar Marvel formula: bright colors, polished effects, and well-choreographed action sequences. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking, but the fast pace keeps things engaging. The runtime is refreshingly short, which is a welcome change considering how Marvel films have been stretching their length lately.
The biggest issue is that the story doesn't carry much weight. The villain feels underdeveloped, and the central conflict seems more like an excuse to bring characters together than a compelling narrative. It's not boring, but it doesn't leave much of an impact either.
In the end, The Marvels is an enjoyable ride while it lasts, but it's not one that will stick with you. For MCU fans, it's another essential stop along the journey. For casual viewers, it might just feel like another superhero movie that blends into the crowd.
