The Marvels

The Marvels has a few entertaining moments and a likable cast, but I found the film surprisingly dull given its premise. Too often, it feels more focused on emphasizing the fact that it has three female leads than on telling a compelling story. Some of the dialogue leans heavily into gender-based humor and commentary that I found distracting, pulling attention away from the characters and the larger adventure.

Iman Vellani was the film's biggest bright spot. She brings enthusiasm, charm, and energy whenever she's on screen, making Kamala Khan far more engaging than much of the surrounding story.

Zawe Ashton's Dar-Benn has understandable motivations, but the character never develops into a threatening antagonist. The action is serviceable, but the stakes rarely feel meaningful. Despite a talented cast, The Marvels never fully comes together and ultimately left me more bored than entertained.
