The Silence
The film tries to take advantage of the void left by other exponents of silent horror, but it fails to understand what made those stories work. It just repeats familiar formulas without the narrative pulse or the unsettling atmosphere of its models. The script moves forward without any real character development, the situations are predictable and the tension is practically nonexistent. Not even the performances of actors with proven solidity can hide the lack of originality and the uninspired work behind the camera. Instead of contributing something new, it just offers a lackluster version of ideas far better executed in other productions. In the end, it doesn't hook you, doesn't shake you and feels more like a half-hearted rehash than a proposal with a personality of its own.
