A young man, raised in post-apocalyptic uncivilised times, and therefore uncivilised himself, enjoys nothing more than a bit of rape (à la Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange, 1971). When he finds himself lured into a facsimile of old-world civilisation, but one where virility has degenerated into impotence, he encounters an industrial solution to the extraction of sperm (in essence no different to industrial agriculture, as Heidegger would say), which only makes him yearn for the days of the drives unbound he had hitherto known, a form of life that at least had the virtue of acknowledging the often concealed belief that the truest freedom comes in being unburdened from the obligation of having to spend meaningful time with members of the opposite sex. While not really funny or good (with the exception of the last line – spoken by the dog), it’s also not boring and kind of subversive in a 1970s type of way. Watched in 2025: the film itself is set in 2024.
