Hellraiser

Honestly really slow in the beginning, and it didn't have any good characters, as well random shit and gore permeating this movie. That being said, The special effects were really good. Eh, I can see why it's a classic but it might actually be over-rated! 7/10

Well, the video game Hellraiser: Revival just released, and it was so great that I decided I actually do want to watch all of these movies! A lot of them are on Tubi, so it should be pretty easy for me to watch them. I've only seen the first two movies before, and while they do interest me, they don't really stand out to me compared to a lot of other franchises.
I enjoyed this one a little bit less than the direct sequel. The poor pacing and very simple plot make it hard for me to get invested in this one. It takes forever to figure out what's going on, but when everything finally becomes clear, it's a bit ham-fisted. Luckily, those are pretty much my only complaints, but they're major ones. The practical effects are glorious, with gore practically bursting off the screen. Also, I absolutely adore Ashley Laurence as one of the best examples of a final girl. She's vulnerable but also badass and can take care of herself when shit goes down.
Despite all that, this is still a pretty enjoyable film, and I'm hoping this will lead to some great movies down the line. The video game was amazing, and I could see myself really getting into this franchise, but who knows? Wish me luck!

Mini Review: Unfortunately, I found this one pretty overrated. The pacing is painfully slow, the plot is simple, and the revelations are a bit ham-fisted. The characters aren't particularly interesting either, but the practical effects are glorious, with gore practically permeating the screen! Ashley Laurence is fantastic as a vulnerable but badass final girl. Still enjoyable, but I hope the sequels have more to offer. Wish me luck! 7/10
