Wings of Desire

Really took a risk watching 3 black/white foreign movies. Wow, there's a lot of whispering/slow pacing in this movie. This would be a boring movie but there's a lot of interesting choices/this was very well shot. The characters were all really fun to watch/liked a lot about this. Wish that more of this was subtitled on the Criterion Collection. There's a lot to like but I feel something was missing/the ending really let me down. This would be a great sequel the the film Its a Wonderful Life!

This is the second time I am watching this and my opinions have not changed since the first time. The pacing is really bad, especially at the beginning. Half the run time of how this started could have been but and a lot more could have been shaved. This easily could have been a 100 - 110 minute movie and would have benefited it from it. Also, why the hell does Criterion only subtitle one language
Besides that though, I like pretty much everything else! Peter Falk is always amazing and has such expressive eyes. The other actors are great too, but I don't know them from much else. I love how this film uses both Black and White and then color. My favorite moments are definitely in color as a lot of the angel stuff in this is not as interesting when this gets to the main part of the premise. Pretty fun movie, I stand by my claim that this is the secret sequel to It's a Wonderful Life!
