I never understood why The Lion King was treated as film royalty, it is far far far far far far far far from perfect, I like some characters like Scar and Mufasa, who both have great voice actors, the animation is beautiful, the score is amazing, and that opening? top notch! but the film derails heavily after Mufasa's death, it becomes a generic kids movie afterwards, with fart jokes and basic lines, which gives emotional whiplash, Simba is a very boring protagonist, he is very passive, only changing when the plot demands it, if the plot needed him to suddenly turn into a villain, he likely would, he just goes back to the pride lands after he kep not wanting too just because his dad showed up in the clouds, the climax also uses far to much slow motion and is super rushed, plsu why do the lionesses not rebel, there are so many of them, they can easily outnumber Scar, the message itself is great but it literally contradicts itself at the end, the film is just a mess, it's not a bad movie, but nowhere near perfect, it might be the most overrated film I've ever seen, however it was much better than Pocahontas at least
