Suffers a little in comparison to SORRY, BABY watched concurrently – this works better if viewed as a classy melodrama than having anything of seriousness to say for either side of the #MeToo debate, though Guadagnino’s sometimes flowery directorial tendencies tend to heighten the artifice, rather than contributing to any dramatic impact (it’s been widely discussed, but I’m really not sure what point or benefit is achieved in the very deliberate presentation of the opening and closing titles).
