From Beyond

A nice bit of unsettlingly gruesome 80s trash horror, elevated by Gordon’s go-for-broke sensibilities, and a fun cast who would never be Oscar candidates, but nevertheless throw themselves into their roles with gusto, and more than a little cheeky self-awareness (Foree seems to resign himself to fate with a wink and a nod). There’s some terrific gooey effects here, of the hand-made old-school variety that impress even while turning your stomach, and while you could argue the film is too slight and ultimately disposable, it’s difficult not to give yourself over to its energy, especially in the moment.
