Part of the last gasp of 90s indie movies, with blurry, shabby cinematography and tours through the “freakshow” elements of queer society of (in this case) the 70s and 80s. Taken as a superficial and flinty excuse for Green and Culkin to spend a film quipping bitchily with each other, it’s great fun; Bailey and Barbato seem to have a love of the malevolence that Culkin can bring to his otherwise cherubic disposition, resulting in one of his best performances (at least since the underrated THE GOOD SON), though Green matches him snark for snark all the way.
