También la lluvia

This took my memory way back to STATE AND MAIN in its tale of big-city film-makers descending on a small village to make a movie; far more serious minded and dramatically intense, this is a thoughtful and at times quite gripping study of the morality and ethics of colonialism, and its fascinating how the shadowy and murky ethical moves made by a low-key Bernal and Tosar are contrasted with the more overtly radical moves made by a brilliant Aduviri – it’s when the players start playing the players that the film becomes deeply engrossing, leading to a thrilling denouement and a somewhat sad and wistful coda.
