The Conspiracy

It may well be the proliferation of absurdist conspiracy theories in the years since that are now sadly part of mainstream life, but the moment the tone changed from investigative to endorsement of this rather silly conspiracy, the bad laughs started for me and didn’t end, undermining the final act which attempts to ape BLAIR WITCH found-footage horror, and winding up as a po-faced, “truth is out there” screed. The opening sequences promising a more glibly satiric tone work the best, especially in its handling of the baked in absurdities of cameras recording footage at unlikely moments.
