The Discovery of Heaven

Utterly bizarre story (which feels like Krabbe may have done some significant nip-tucking to) is a mix of philosophical sci-fi and post-war drama, and casting Fry as the most unlikely version of a flagrant womaniser that I’ve ever encountered! Riveting for any number of reasons, not the least Krabbe’s role as director and why this material was appealing to him in the first place; has a distinctly European art-house feel in its delving into near-incestuous relationships left right and centre, which seems somewhat at odds with its otherwise stuffy British veneer. I may well need to return to this one at some stage; its terminal oddness makes it difficult to parse in a single viewing.
