The Hidden

A nifty, largely no-frills sci-fi cop thriller which finds MacLachlan doing a dry run for Agent Cooper in pursuit of a sparsely though effectively rendered villain; it isn’t quite novel enough in its style or execution to fully emerge from the shadows of the best of Body Snatchers, but it’s good fun to watch, especially with a well-stocked support cast of 80s B-grade cult actors. Loses its way in the final third as it tries to give the villain an unconvincing greater purpose, courtesy of McCann’s dull Senator, leading to a final scene which is more silly than profound, but otherwise good, cheesy fun.
