Death to 2020
I actually found this thoroughly frustrating. From a production standpoint it looked good. But that's literally the only thing I can give this film credit for. I found almost all the jokes fell flat and the performances really annoyed me. It's so annoying. It's marketed too smart to be a stupid comedy and is far too stupid to be an actual satire. And that's the thing, critics are calling this an outrageous satire and all but just because it's attempting to be offensive using real events as the basis. But it's just lazy. Use your stature as a Netflix special to say something important. And even if you wanna make a pisspoor stupid 'comedy event' maybe don't use your trailers and posters to build it up to a similar tier as Black Mirror just because it shares the same producers and some writers. Also so many of these jokes felt like they were written ages ago like The Microsoft Paperclip, YouTube's being egotists, the fucking trollface and flossing. Also a lot of this felt like some one watched some Chris Morris stuff and tried to reconstruct the gags without having half the wit. Also maybe throw in a few real underpaid actors instead of having an entirely famous cast? What is this nightmare of a special? Ok ok I've calmed down. I'm sorry I raised my voice. But this did not work for me on any level. That's all. Screw this.
