Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
This film kinda feels like the beginning trace of Tim Burton's downfall. It's certainly not bad it just feels like the source material is slightly too overbearing over Burton's stylisations as a director. Whilst that would be a good thing for many other musical films, people want to see an intrinsically Tim Burton film and I feel like this is a tonal departure from his usual stuff. The performances are very good but there's always the annoying thing of a film favouring stars over professionally trained musical singers (much like when an animated film fills it's cast with Hollywood big boys and gals instead of people whos careers are being voice actors). It's fine. It's not harmful but it's not great. It's plain fine.
