Death Becomes Her

This was a super fun movie. Classic eternal youth tale, but the comedic chops were so solid. It had elements of Looney Tunes and older slapstick, all wrapped up in a goofy/campy package. The entire hospital sequence was a masterpiece. Meryl and Goldie were amazing in this, their rivalry was equal parts exaggerated and grounded. Meryl blew me away with her sense of humor and timing. I've never seen Bruce Willis in a role like this and he honestly played it so great; meek but not too losery. And Isabella Rossellini, what an entrance! The movie was cleverly shot, crazy efficient frames with a masterful use of layering. Speaking of layering, the matte painting they used for the nighttime NYC skyline in the opening shot was marvelous. Also, what a slam dunk of a title. Seriously. One for the textbooks.
