Christian Bale delivers a powerhouse performance as always, though his mumbling throughout left me wondering if it was a character trait. The film’s themes are heartwarming, highlighting family unity and resilience. Both Micky and Dicky undergo their own redemption arcs, coming together beautifully in the end. The writing is strong, but I found the direction lacking—it felt chaotic and disjointed, perhaps intentionally reflecting the family’s turbulent lives, but it didn’t fully work for me. Amy Adams, whom I usually find one-dimensional and lacking in emotional range, was surprisingly effective here in her supporting role. The finale was very well done; it captured the rawness of a real fight without the over-the-top drama often seen in similar scenes. Overall, I enjoyed the film, but it doesn’t hold much rewatch value for me.
