The Smashing Machine
Great biopic. Good performances by DJ and Emily Blunt. Good story telling. Borderline documentary. It could’ve dove deeper into Mike’s character and his drug use but they just brushed over it. Everything just felt surface level and rushed. Good use of score. A24 touch is there. Like the aesthetics. I think they may have chose the wrong guy to this movie on. Maybe a Don Frye movie would’ve been better but I guess they just wanted the rock and make money on his name or the rock wanted to show the world that he can act and they tailored a whole movie to fit his strengths. Either way a good watch.
