Good Fortune was a solid feature film screenwriting debut for Aziz Ansari. The story is funny and thoughtful. It spends a lot of time exploring what people think will make them happy versus what actually does, and it does so without taking itself too seriously.

The cast helps sell the material, and the dialogue often feels natural and lived-in. While the film doesn't always hit every emotional note it reaches for, I found myself invested in the characters and curious to see where the story would go.

Ansari didn't just make a straightforward comedy. Beneath the humor is a story that's genuinely interested in examining ambition, success, and contentment. Those themes don't always come together perfectly, but they give the film more depth than I expected.
