Superman
This is exactly the kind of Superman film I was hoping to see. It feels like a genuine tribute to the Superman movies of the 1970s and 80s while still managing to feel fresh and modern. Rather than trying to reinvent the character, the film embraces the optimism, sincerity, and sense of wonder that made Superman such an enduring icon in the first place.
The casting is excellent across the board. David Corenswet is outstanding as Superman, capturing both the strength and humanity that the role requires. Rachel Brosnahan is equally impressive as Lois Lane, bringing intelligence, confidence, and charm to every scene she's in. Nicholas Hoult may be the biggest surprise of all, delivering a memorable Lex Luthor who feels both threatening and believable.
A great deal of credit belongs to James Gunn. He clearly understands what makes these characters work and succeeds in creating a film that respects Superman's legacy without feeling trapped by it. After years of uncertainty surrounding the character on the big screen, this feels like a very promising start to a new era for DC.
Most importantly, it's simply a fun and enjoyable movie. I left the theater optimistic about Superman's future for the first time in a long while.
