Wes Anderson continues to do what Wes Anderson does better than almost anyone else. The film is unmistakably his from the opening scene, filled with the dry humor, eccentric characters, and meticulous craftsmanship that have defined his career. As someone who generally enjoys Anderson's work, this was an easy film for me to appreciate.

The performances are outstanding across the board, beginning with Benicio Del Toro. He delivers exactly the type of understated yet commanding performance that Anderson's films often require, grounding the story while still embracing its eccentricities. Mia Threapleton is equally impressive and more than holds her own alongside a veteran cast. She brings a natural charm and confidence to the role and plays a major part in keeping the film emotionally engaging.

Michael Cera's awkward comedic timing and deadpan delivery fit Anderson's style perfectly, and he consistently stole scenes whenever he appeared. It felt like one of those performances where the actor and filmmaker were operating on exactly the same wavelength.

While the visual style is what initially draws attention, it's the combination of Anderson's writing and these strong performances that ultimately makes The Phoenician Scheme so enjoyable. It's another clever, funny, and thoroughly entertaining entry in his filmography.
