The Immortal Man isn't a bad film, but something clearly went wrong during production. The quality is far below what is to be expected in comparison to the series in terms of story, writing and overall payoff and experience. Underwhelming is the perfect way to describe it and it leaves the ending of the franchise feeling empty.

STORY/PLOT

Underwhelming to say the least. There's a few good scenes, and on paper this story arc should have been really good, but it just misses. It feels like a movie where the original idea had to be altered multiple times throughout production for one reason or another, leaving a product that feels quite bland. There's some good ideas there but ultimately they all felt underwhelming. Some of the other major plot points must have forced due to circumstances outside of filming because they're terrible. To top it off the ending was nowhere near climactic enough for the calibre of character that is Tommy Shelby. He deserved better, and so did Arthur.

ACTING

Still top notch. Cillian Murphy is brilliant as always. The new cast members are all renowned and talented and put on a decent performance.

CHARACTERS

I don't know what went down during the production for The Immortal Man, but surely not including the best characters of the original series was not part of the plan. There's no Arthur and no Alfie. Alfie is a bit more understandable but no mention of him at all is poor. No inclusion of Arthur damaged the film significantly, and the clearly rushed reason written in to the story as to why is shocking. The new characters are alright but by no means fill the void left by the great ones before them.

CINEMATOGRAPHY/VISUAL DESIGN

Great stuff again. Costume design, camera work and special effects are on point. The depressing, bleak atmosphere is present once again with great use of colour and set design.

SOUNDTRACK/AUDIO

Outstanding. Probably the strongest aspect of the movie and the one that is most on par with the series. The new soundtrack is as good as ever with the track Nobody's Son featuring Amy Taylor from Amyl And The Sniffers being the highlight.
