Bugonia
While I’m not sure it says anything particularly new, the way the point of the movie is executed is still effective. It’s very entertaining, offering up some laughs that feel earned, but not outshining just how horrifying and infuriating people can truly be, and how far they’ll go just to prove they’re right. I love the way Lanthimos writes the human psyche and I tend to really enjoy his characters/actors. The performances are all stellar, the way it’s intricately plotted is genuinely shocking at times, the production is super tight (and gorgeous) and the climax is as heartbreaking as it is telling.
Catch this on the big screen if you’re a fan of this filmmaker or the stars.
