Dune: Part Two
They said "Dune" couldn't be made into a movie - until Villeneuve stepped in. At least, that's the story they told me. And yes, Villeneuve pulled it off, but only by cutting large parts of the original story or changing them significantly.
The film is a mix of impressive special effects, strong visuals, disjointed action scenes, and a dull, unconvincing love story without chemistry. The only real highlight is short moments with Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. Her father, however, was a different story: Christopher Walken as the Emperor looked like he needed a nurse on standby. He came across as if he was sedated during filming. The supposedly elite Sardaukar felt more like aging sensible dads, nearing retirement.
The Harkonnen were more intimidating, but inexplicably stupid - for example failing to activate their shields while being picked off one by one during a battle.
The ending strays from the book as well. This has serious consequences for the canon later.

Chalomet kills this role. Like, Paul is such a clearly defined character and I think of him as Paul (Muad’Dib/Usul/Lisan Al-Giab/Mahdi) Atreides the whole time. Bardem is also s...
