Under the Skin

Actually, I find this movie better than the book. That's rare. The book is too direct, too Earthly and therefore the blatant anti-meat message dominates.

The movie hides this messaging, if there ever was any messaging. On top of it it adds mystery. For example the victims are lured into a goo by inducing them into some dream-like state. It's never explained how this mechanic works, but it doesn't have to.

ScarJo shines here and despite the rawness of the movie. I rated it a 7/10 and watched several times as one easily could miss a detail. But I do realize that the lack of action, lack of dialogue, lack of explanation and a slow pace would keep many viewers away. It's an intelligent movie where we see things from the perspective of aliens.

Maybe 7/10 is a little to low. Difficult to say.
