Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Michael Keaton is still the engine of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, bringing the character’s manic energy and macabre charm back to life whenever he appears. Unfortunately, the trailer he’s pulling is bloated and largely unremarkable: a cluttered sequel weighed down by recycled gags, underused characters, and a plot that confuses frenetic activity with inspiration. There are flashes of the original’s eccentric visual style and mischievous wit, but they struggle to emerge from the noisy, overstuffed construction. Keaton can still make Beetlejuice feel alive; the film around him rarely does.
