one of the few 'weak' links in bressane's oeuvre -- or at least the first i've encountered; i'm not counting filme de amor because i saw it in college, when i was way too naive and obtuse to fully grasp it. here he embraces 60s typical urban angst and existentialism applied to cinema novo's political punch -- if you are in the mood enough for it. ignez shines in every scene she's in and the director already manages to express his unique skills as one of cinema's definitive imagemakers -- statesman delivering a speech for an empty parliament and my favorite bit, a chaplin-esque silent short featuring a threesome.
