Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man

mr. self destruct, the movie. "what can we do to end my life?". this is gotta be the film with the most insane rate of quotes about death drive in the history of cinema. as much as i love the frankenstein monster, this would be much better as just a sequel to wolf man, following his relentless, unflinching march to doom. but hey, on the other hand, bela and chaney look absolutely beautiful together as opposing poles of creation -- as talbot says, his pal was artificially made, while he's flesh and bones, but can't be killed as a normal man. "he's not insane. he simply wants to die". yeah, quite triggering experience if your country -- and yourself, really -- is about to jump into the abyss.
