A kind of love that doesn't exactly make you do nonsensical things, but freezes, paralyzes you to the point you can't make decisions anymore -- even if for the very benefit of this cozy, yet sweeping emotion. You just lay down and want to die. Yeah, gotta love melodrama! The amount of beautiful scenes in just 87 minutes is quite unbelievable. From the long shots during the lovely and colorful birthday party to the promises made on the streets -- 'meet me in six days or never again, even by chance' -- as an escola de samba covers them with music and dancing, not to mention the last image -- sunlight invading the room as she realizes she's still alive and couldn't/can't/wont(?) go forward with an affair that seemed so precise, definitive, unescapable.
