The Wrecking Crew
“The Wrecking Crew” is the last Matt Helm movie, and that may be a good thing. It’s basically more of the same, only this time with an older Dean Martin. Bruce Lee was brought in to help with the fight scenes, but watching Martin move and kick is a joke in itself. The beautiful women are still everywhere, along with the raised eyebrow and the running joke that every woman immediately falls for Helm.
By this point, though, the formula was beginning to fray. This one simply isn’t as good as the others, and the jokes and situations feel increasingly worn out. The ending promises a fifth Matt Helm adventure, but that movie never appeared. After watching this one, I can understand why the series ended.
