Boiling Point

in my opinion, boiling point reaches a spiritual climax only uncut gems and season 1 of the bear have ever achieved, and that climax is stressing me out beyond belief.
the ending of boiling point is similar to the uncut gems because i think it's definitely shocking and abrupt, but necessary and would've ruined the movie without it, and the bear s1 because it's set in a kitchen and maintains a rising level of stress.
and of course, i can't talk about this film without talking about the technically & visually impressive one-take, and i don't mean like in a birdman way where you are constantly looking for and pointing out moments where they secretly cut, i mean this whole 95-minute movie was filmed all in one take. insane.
i also can't not talk about the characters, who are written realistically with so much love, care and precision that they made me forget i was even watching a movie at times, and a certain brilliant and personal favourite actor of mine who perfectly demonstrates this is the great stephen graham.
he portrays such a stressed man, riddled with anxiety and who can just barely keep his head above the water that is his job, his coworkers and the people attending his restaurant, as well as the actual cooking of the food and not to mention a food critic of all people coming in at the beginning to set the stage for just how tense of a watch this is going to be.
overall, boiling point is a hard to watch masterpiece, an exploration of social dynamics, hierarchies, roles and positions of power, and just a horribly good time.
