Idk what it is but the early Seagal movies capture my interest less than the later ones. There’s some sick scenes tho and the Jamaican voodoo stuff is actually pretty cool.
Apparently weed is a gateway drug to crack, being pushed by inner city gangs. Specifically, blue-eyed Jamaican practitioners of voodoo. Ritualistic chicken sacrifice scene was unexpected, ritualistic virgin sacrifice less so. Then the suburban child murder drive-by had me surprised again. Foiled ritualistic gang rape was predictable tho. Between this and Predator 2, 1990 was a bad year for the PR of Jamaican posse’s, kinda ironic considering Seagal’s later reggaeton music albums. Supernatural vibes were decently done tho, and the film remained firmly grounded in Seagalian reality. I liked his jacket, the embroidered Chinese tiger on back and dragons on front put this in the same tier as the Drive scorpion.
