The Lorax
A lot of these jokes just don't land at all. I only chuckled at two-- maybe three if I can remember what it was. Oh yeah, most of this movie was so unremarkable outside of recapturing the aesthetic style of the book that it's based on. The climactic chase sequence was so tame and safe that it didn't have any tension to it. The characters' motives didn't make any sense. The protagonist was only looking to plant a tree to impress a girl under the guise of caring about the onceler's wish. I didnt believe for a second that he did. The voice acting was so awful most of the time. The music, while it does have decent instrumentation and musical structure, have below average lyrics that can feel forced or underdeveloped. Overall, this movie had its heart in the right place, but it just did a really shoddy job at getting its message across. Thneedville really was living a good life without trees. But the fact that they were all so easily convinced that they weren't is such a joke. I'll probably forget about this movie in about a day and I won't be seeing it again anytime soon.
