A British Picture

Ken Russell talking about his life, with a fair sense of cheekiness and good spirit. Not the most informative biography, but informative enough and fun to watch.

The tone is set right away when we're let in on the fact that referring to a movie as "a British picture" used to be a slight. A good-hearted gloss over Russell's life and work--until 1989, at least. Having Russell's children stand in for the adult Russell and his wife was almost to say, "Aw--why so upset about all the sacrilege and perversion in my movies? I was just playing!" If you aren't a Ken Russell fan already, there's probably not much here for you. A must for fans, though.
