I can remember the TV series from when I was a lad, but I don't remember this pilot TV movie. David Hemmings evils it up quite comically, Vincent remains largely expressionless, and portable gargoyle Ernest Borgnine provides the eye candy. The music is cool and the helicopter is something I have coveted from an early age. It's all a bit thin and silly, though.

The program centers on a high-tech military helicopter code named Airwolf and its crew as they undertake various missions many involving espionage with a Cold War theme. The show was created by Donald P Bellisario. The first three seasons star JanMichaelVincent, ErnestBorgnine, AlexCord and Jean Bruce Scott. After the original series was cancelled, a fourth season, with an entirely new cast and on a much smaller budget, was filmed in Canada for the USA Network.
