Akikan!

Better than it has any right to be. At first glance, this is a basic late-00s Magical Girlfriend series with an extra-silly concept. But you quickly realize these characters are all gleefully exaggerated - is this a parody? And gradually, it becomes clear that these interpersonal conflicts are more understandable and believable than the vast majority of romcoms, anime or not! It didn't end as well as I'd hoped, and there's That One Comedy Stereotype, but it was still way more fun than expected.
