Another one of those "spot the celebrity cameo" TV miniseries that were popular in the late '90s. One of the more faithful adaptations of Carroll's novel, but it's soooooooooooo sllloooooooww.

This movie blatantly rips off Labyrinth, not just in the set design, which could have been explained by the involvement of Jim Henson's company, but story wise. But if you can forgive that, it's a nice little kids flick. It looks good and the practical effects mostly holds up well, except for a few which are not as much dated as "that couldn't even have looked good in '99". Lots of quality actors who all overact wildly, but seem to be having lots of fun doing it.

Aspects of the production are lovely and there are bright spots in the cast (Short's Mad Hatter and Richardson's Queen) but the effects are iffy and the songs are worse though mercifully brief. It's among the better Alice adaptations out there but it's certainly corny and condescending.
