A miscast Bruckner nevertheless manages her usual miracles out of nothing and nowhere (fond esp. of her too-exasperated "I feel like POOP!" at the coming-out) and Mary Harron provides all the intriguing ambiguity, genuine interest, and outright confusion to be expected from her treatment of such a subject for Lifetime, which results in some fun stuff that'd never fly otherwise, like Smith's childhood visualizations of her adult self becoming adult visualizations of her child self
